Ingredients

1 pound fresh ripe strawberries (preferably with stems intact)

8 ounces high-quality dark chocolate (70% cacao recommended for richness)

4 ounces white chocolate (optional, for a decorative drizzle)

Sea salt flakes (such as Maldon or fleur de sel, for the perfect finishing touch)

Instructions

Prepare the Strawberries: Begin by rinsing your strawberries gently under cold running water. After washing, use a clean towel to pat them dry thoroughly. It’s essential that they are completely moisture-free so the chocolate adheres properly.

Melt the Dark Chocolate: Chop the dark chocolate into smaller, uniform pieces and place them in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the chocolate in the microwave using medium power in 30-second intervals. Be sure to stir the chocolate well after each interval, continuing until it is fully melted and achieves a smooth consistency (this should take about 1 to 2 minutes total).

Dip the Strawberries: Grasp each strawberry by its stem and dip it straight into the melted dark chocolate, ensuring it is evenly coated. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off back into the bowl, creating a smooth layer.

Set the Chocolate Coating: Carefully arrange the dipped strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. While the chocolate is still warm and tacky, sprinkle a small pinch of sea salt flakes over each strawberry to enhance the sweet and salty flavor.

Optional White Chocolate Drizzle: If you desire an extra decorative touch, melt the white chocolate using the same method as the dark chocolate. Once melted, use a fork or a piping bag to drizzle the warm white chocolate over the coated strawberries in a zigzag pattern for a visually appealing finish.

Chill to Set: Transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate coating is firm to the touch.

Serve: After the chocolate has set, carefully transfer the strawberries to a serving platter. These delightful sweet and salty treats are best enjoyed at room temperature, making them a perfect bite-sized dessert for gatherings or special occasions.
