Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 medium sweet apple (such as Honeycrisp), peeled and finely diced

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for a vegan alternative)

Approximately 8-10 slider buns

Optional toppings: sliced avocado, cheese, or any toppings of your choice

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, finely diced apple, chopped onion, minced garlic, rinsed kidney beans, diced tomatoes with green chilies, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Mix Thoroughly: Using your hands or a large spoon, mix all the ingredients until they are evenly combined. Make sure the ground turkey is well incorporated with the other ingredients.

Transfer to Crockpot: Spoon the turkey mixture into your Crockpot. Add the apple cider vinegar and honey (or maple syrup) to the mixture. Gently stir to combine, ensuring all ingredients are well mixed.

Cook Low & Slow: Cover the Crockpot and set it to the low setting. Cook for 4 to 6 hours, or until the turkey is thoroughly cooked and the flavors have melded together beautifully.

Toast the Slider Buns: About 10 minutes before you are ready to serve, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns in half and place them on a baking sheet with the cut sides facing up. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown.

Assemble the Sliders: Once the chili turkey mixture is ready, take the bottom half of each toasted slider bun and spoon a generous amount of the mixture onto it. Add optional toppings, such as sliced avocado or cheese, then place the top half of the bun over each slider.

Serve and Enjoy: Arrange the sliders on a platter and serve warm, allowing everyone to enjoy the delightful combination of sweet and spicy flavors in these delicious apple chili turkey sliders!
