Ingredients

1 large loaf of crusty Italian or French bread

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

4 cloves garlic, minced finely

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus additional for dipping)

1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings such as bell peppers, red onions, or mushrooms)

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to preheat while you prepare the ingredients.

Make the Garlic Butter: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, dried oregano, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and freshly ground pepper. Stir well with a fork until all ingredients are fully blended into a creamy paste.

Slice the Bread: Carefully slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise. If you prefer a more generous filling, gently scoop out some of the soft interior of the bread to create a space for the toppings.

Spread the Garlic Butter: Liberally spread the garlic butter mixture onto the cut sides of both halves of the bread. Make sure to cover every inch for an explosion of flavor in every bite.

Layer with Cheese and Toppings: Evenly distribute a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the garlic butter. Add your chosen toppings, such as pepperoni slices or a colorful mix of vegetables, followed by another generous layer of mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake to Perfection: Place the loaded bread halves cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden, while the edges of the bread achieve a delightful crispness.

Add a Crunchy Finish (Optional): For an extra crispy cheese topping, turn on the broiler for the last 1-2 minutes of baking. Keep a close watch to avoid burning. Just before removing from the oven, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top for that extra flavor kick.

Slice and Serve: Once baked, take the pizza melts out of the oven and allow to cool for about a minute. Slice them into individual pieces. Serve alongside warmed marinara sauce for dipping, and if desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves for an added touch of color and flavor.

                  Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 4

Presentation Tips: Serve on a rustic wooden board with a small bowl of marinara sauce in the center for a casual and inviting presentation. Add a few fresh basil leaves around the board for an appealing touch. Enjoy!
