Ingredients

1 cup almond flour

1/4 cup coconut flour

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup coconut oil, melted (ensure it's not too hot)

1/4 cup pure maple syrup or agave syrup

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (dairy-free if preferred)

1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional for added crunch)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, coconut flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and sea salt. Whisk everything together thoroughly until the mixture is uniform.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the melted coconut oil (let it cool slightly if hot), maple syrup or agave syrup, unsweetened applesauce, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Use a spatula or spoon to stir until the two mixtures are just combined, forming a slightly sticky dough. If the dough seems too dry, add a teaspoon of water to reach the desired consistency.

Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Carefully fold in the dark chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Form the Bites: Using your hands or a small cookie scoop, shape the dough into small balls approximately the size of a tablespoon. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. The edges should be firm, and the tops will appear slightly set. Remember, they will continue to firm up as they cool.

Cool and Serve: After baking, allow the chocolate chip bites to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes. Then, carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Storage: Store any leftover chocolate chip bites in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for up to a week for optimal freshness.

Prep Time, Total Time, Servings: 15 minutes | 25 minutes | Makes approximately 18 bites.

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve these delightful bites on a decorative plate or tiered stand. For an extra touch, drizzle some melted chocolate over the bites before serving or sprinkle them with crushed nuts for added visual appeal.
