Ingredients

14 oz (400g) firm tofu, drained and pressed

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely minced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce

1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 teaspoons sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooked jasmine rice or quinoa (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Begin by cutting the pressed tofu into evenly sized bite-sized cubes. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch with a pinch of salt. Gently toss the tofu cubes in this mixture until they are lightly coated on all sides.

Cook the Tofu: Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated tofu cubes in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning them occasionally until they develop a golden-brown, crispy exterior. Once done, transfer the tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. When the oil is hot, toss in the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté them for about 30 seconds, or until they release a fragrant aroma. Next, add the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper to the skillet. Stir-fry for approximately 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the broccoli is vibrant green and tender-crisp.

Combine with Sauce: Return the crispy tofu to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and teriyaki sauce. Pour this sauce over the tofu and vegetables, gently tossing everything to ensure an even coating. Let the mixture cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes to warm everything through.

Finishing Touches: Drizzle the sauté with toasted sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Toss all ingredients together to enhance the flavor and add a nutty finish.

Serve: Spoon generous portions of the savory teriyaki tofu and broccoli stir-fry over beds of warm jasmine rice or fluffy quinoa. For an extra touch, garnish with additional sesame seeds if desired.
